Today we headed out to Nara, Japan's first permanent Capital. Although some temples already existed in what's now Nara, the town was created specifically for the purpose of serving the capital when it moved here at the start of the 8th century...
After the epic shopping fest of yesterday, we decided to take it easy today. We started with a nice lie in followed, as usual, with breakfast from the konbini. Then we headed off to the Kaiyukan Aquarium. Fun fact, Kaiyukan is formed from the Kanji characters 海 Sea 遊 Play and 館 Mansion.
Today we woke up at 8:20 meaning we only snoozed the alarm for 20 minutes which, for us, is a great accomplishment. We headed to the kombini for breakfast which seems to be becoming our morning ritual. Everything you've heard about Japanese convenience stores is true...
